Climate Crisis is the biggest threat mankind has ever faced regarding its existence. We need to treat it as if it’s an external force trying to destroy the planet. The way fictional movies treat threats, where everyone gets together to solve a crisis. We can’t leave it for the future generations to deal with this threat. We must act now, and together.
A person becomes extremely ill and they visit their doctor to find out what is wrong. The doctor tells the patient “you need to change your lifestyle or else you will die soon”. This is something none of us want to hear, so what does the patient do? The patient could take the doctors advise on board and change the way their life is being lived. On the other hand, the patient could carry on living life like normal and take the risk. Of course, the doctor is not always right, and the patient could survive, but the odds of that happening would be against the patient.
Just like the patient’s relationship with the doctor, we should have that same relationship with the scientist regarding the future of the planet. All environmental scientists are warning us about the threat of climate change and the future existence of the planet. We must listen to these scientists and try to make changes to the way we live our lives. Or else don’t even bother having children. At this point it is almost cruel to have children and leaving them with the problems and threats that come with climate crisis.
Changes we need to implement are no longer individual changes. Obviously, we should all make these small changes to our lives. Everyone should already be doing the simple things such as reduce, reuse and recycle etc. However, individual changes are no longer going to save the planet. We need a complete transformation in society itself. We must question every aspect of every society and make necessary changes to tackle the threat at hand.
To accomplish this feat, we must work together. Every person in every society is responsible. We need to treat this threat like Nazi Germany, when the world got together to fight the threat at hand. The changes that are necessary will make people uncomfortable, but tough. This isn’t about you. We aren’t just attacking your way of life. We are attacking everyone’s way of life. You are either with us, or against us, but we don’t care because we are going to make these changes anyway.
The young generation are going to lead the fight to combat the threat of climate change. Previous generations have failed us. They can no longer be trusted to be the leaders in this fight. We have to take the mantle on and be at the forefront of this battle. If we are not able to defeat climate crisis, then it will become impossible for future generations to do it. It is now or never.
If we are to achieve this, we must start now. The effort currently being done is too small and not enough. We can’t wait for technology to advance because the technology is ready now. The idea that the technology is not good enough right now is a complete lie propagated by the big corporations. At the end of the day it is these people who will suffer from us not spending our money on their oil and gas. Advancement in technology to make this planet eco-friendly has been around for years and it has been ready. All it needs now is implementation. We are going to make this happen.
I know there are a lot of people out there who are very sceptical if we are able to save the planet. Personally, I think it is possible. Look at all the wonderful people out there making a difference. Although there are people from the previous generation that have been fighting this battle, it is the younger generation that have really taken on the role of being leaders. I truly believe that we will win and make this planet a place of wonder once again, not just for us and our future generations, but also for the animals and plants who also reside on this planet.
