Boris Johnson is currently crying himself at the bottom of
a gutter, as he suffers four straight L’s in his first four votes as PM. That all
happened after strong protests and rallies against his imminent undemocratic
coup to prorogue parliament. The mastermind behind the PMs failures, Dominic
Cummings must be wondering how and why all this went wrong. The simple answer
is, a big ol’ baby is the Prime Minister and his adviser, Cummings himself,
has no idea how to lead a government.
As Johnson stood at the steps of Number 10, making an
announcement on Monday evening, it was clear to see that he was visibly agitated
by the loud protesters shouting him down. That agitation continued to the house
of commons as his dreadful performance showed how unfit he is as PM. Loud opposition
against the PM, including his own MPs resulted in Johnson bumbling through his speech.
Moreover, his performance on Wednesday at PMQs presented Johnson as a petulant
child, with lame jokes and no real substance in information. He was moving
round in circles, presenting the same few lines he just rehearsed a few hours previous,
in the mirror.
On the other hand, Jeremey Corbyn has become the
character this country yearns for. We don’t want our own Donald Trump. We need
a Prime Minister who can effectively express his thoughts and actions. Throughout
his speech there is silence, except for his voice. It’s all so strange. There
is no shouting or opposition to what he is saying. All that silence is in fact
deafening. It falls into the hand of the leader of the opposition. Johnson doesn’t
even have support of his own MPs to even shout down the opposition when they
talk. It’s all too easy for Jeremy to pick out all of Johnson’s holes. Johnson
was clearly agitated by the words of Jeremy, as he threw his hands up like a child.
Jeremy’s performance against Johnson showed who should be in Number 10 and who
should be in a nursery. A knockdown blow to the PM as Jeremy ends his speech.
As I was watching the feed on BBC, I was enlightened by
their punditry. They really are some bright folks. Listening to them, it was
almost like Johnson had an alright day in the office. Yeah he lost the
majority, but his performance on the dispatch box was… well they didn’t
acknowledge his disastrous performance. Not once did they talk about Jeremy
completely pulling Johnson's limbs from his speech. The only recognition his speech
got was when Jeremy talked about the use of Johnson’s language. It wasn’t just
one part of the speech which exceeded Johnson. It was the speech as a whole. Jeremey
is now the leader waiting in the flanks to take over from this mess.
The child-like nature of the PM, and his government was visible
by their threat and ultimately implementation of their promise to remove the
whip of those who vote against the government. MPs who have served the Conservative
party for decades are no longer part of the party. People like Ken Clarke and Nicholas
Soames, the grandson of Winston Churchill. It’s frankly remarkable that the PM
uses Churchill as a pawn to further his career and then deselects Churchill’s
grandson. Do I feel sorry for these MPs? No. I will never feel sympathetic to
any Tory MPs. These are the people who supported years of austerity and pain
this country faced. In the end, Brexit is partly the result of austerity. People
want change because of the decade long pain they have felt due to the Tory
government.
On that point, Liberals should rethink their attitude
towards Phillip Lee. Before Johnson’s majority diminished to -43, it was
Phillip Lee who joined the Lib Dems, which effectively lost the governments
working majority. Before Liberals hold him as a champion of Liberalism, they
should really look at his history, especially his views on LGBT+.
Another point of discussion was the spending review laid
out by the Chancellor Sajid Javid. We have been told that austerity has ended. However,
these claim have no real substance. They’re merely just pre-election tactics to
prop up the government in the upcoming election. This spending review has the
fingerprints of Dominic Cummings all over it. This “great” tactician continues
to fail. His attempts to hoodwink MPs continue to be shot down by the opposition.
Their claims to end austerity are merely just a sham.
Deception is the current tactic of Dominic Cummings. The
motion set out by the PM in holding a General Election failed, his fourth L. Since
the bill to stop no deal passed, the government attempt to hold a general election
in an attempt to decisive the house. Although an election is needed, and the
opposition would be favourable to having one, there is no trust in the honesty of
the government. If the motion had passes, what we would most likely have
expected is a change in the date of the election. That date would have been
after 31st October, after we have left the EU, crashing out with a
no deal. MPs aren’t going to fall for the tricks of the government, and so won’t
the people.
Dominic Cummings may have fooled the country once, but he
will not succeed again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me.
We have to learn the lessons of Brexit and remember who these people are. They
are liars. They lied back in 2016. They’re lied during the conservative
leadership contest. They’re lying to the house of commons. They will once again
lie to the country in a general election. Don’t fall into the trap that is
being laid out. Dominic Cummings may be the trickster, but he isn’t a vey good
one.
